Biography of the group Mitimaes

MITIMAES comes from the Quechua word MITMAC that means “to spread” that were groups of families extracted of their communities by the Inca State and transferred of loyal towns to conquered or viceversa to comply political, cultural, social, and economic functions.

For this reason we take this name to spread our music to world, and to teach to all those that be interested in the things that we do THE GROUP MITIMAES was founded in March 1983, in Arequipa Peru, with the members. Clinio, Plinio, Bede and Dino Maldonado Mercado; Aquiles, Guillermo Delgado Argote and Ronald Negrón Cervantes. Having as first Public participation on the same month in the Festival of the Zampoña of Gold, organized by Department of Education of Arequipa being chosen with the first place in Peruvian folk music. Being carried the trophy called "Charango of Gold”,at the end of the same year they are recognized as one of the better groups of the Peruvian folklore.

In December of the same year they start their first tour to Europe, beginning in Spain, staying in the city of Irún in the Basque Country, where they do their first presentations. As in the Theatre Avenida (Irún), Radio the Basque Region, Radio and Spanish TV in Bilboa and others.

In January of 1984 they continue their tour to Germany, and in the month of May, before the sudden absence of Ronal Negrón C. they record their first production, with the title of “Esperanzas de Libertad" (hopes of liberty) where are their themes as: "Carnaval of Arapa" "Good-bye small Town" and other that reflect the experience of altiplano’s inhabitants, as well as "Slow agony" "Hopes of Liberty" that mark the image of the suffering and the hopes of the poor towns. also they are presented in TV. In March of 1985 they record in Spain its second record production with the title of "HUAUKEY" (Quechua word that means “brother), finished in Germany; including themes As: " La Barca " (The Boat) "Huaukey" Brother that reflect the political instances in which Perú lived under the Government of Belaunde and Alan Garcia, with the problematic of the terrorism and the social injustices, also collections and adaptations by the group as "Kullawada", "Yunguyeñita", "Virgin of the Candelaria" single that almost is a hymn for the management festivities of the city of Puno.They also participate in the International Festival of Erlangen “Folk.-fest" with famous artists as Jaime Torres, Luís Rico, Bolivia Manta and others.

In July of the same year with the retreat of Achilles and Guillermo Delgado Argote, they set to music a story for children written for one of the members of the group (Clinio Maldonado Market) with themes about the Peruvian folklore, join to a didactic material called "EINE BRÜCKE NACH PERU" (One bridge toward Perú) for the Institution Misereor of Germany.

In 1986, already in Arequipa-Peru, with three new members (Roberto Manrique Serruto, Sonia Arencio Heredia and Selso Maldonado Chambi) in covenant with the Region Education Department Arequipa, they carry out free concerts in schools in a didactic and pedagogical way during all the year. In 1989, Sonia, Selso and Roberto retire from the group, and are incorporated Roberto Huayta Quispe and Edward Maldonado Mercado.

In 1990 at the same time that carry out another tour by Europe they record their third musical production in Germany with the title "Luz de Esperanza" with themes as “Llego el Carnaval” arrive the carnival "Carnival de Canas" (carnival of Canas) that represent the Andean folklore of Perú and also compositions as “Luz de Esperanza” light of hope" and "Huayra punku"

In September of 1992, together whit the group of dances of the city Hall of Arequipa, they participate in the International Festival of Okayama- JAPAN. Representing to Peru and Latin America. In November of the same year they carry out again a tour to Germany accompanied by José August Marín Q. From the year 1993 they center their artistic activities in Perú. Collaborating with the Group, excellent musicians of the ambient as: Walter Huacasi, The brothers Oswaldo and Rubén Quispe Rivas.

in 2002, they carry out a series of concerts as: in the Institute of art "Carlos Baca Flor" in the locale "Sillustani". In the television program CANTAMERICA of the ATV channel. Folk festival CANTAMERICA in the School Don Bosco and others.
